All hail the queen…and her darling family, of course.

Just a couple of days after their stunning-as-usual appearance at a gala dinner in London, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, made their way to Buckingham Palace today for the "Trooping the Colour" ceremony in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's 85th birthday. (Which was April 21, but you know how those royals like to stretch out their celebrations.)

Even more important (to fashion history, at least), the event was newlywed Kate Middleton's first ceremonial event as a duchess.

The Queen later arrived in a carriage of her own accompanied by her husband of 63 years, Prince Philip, as a band played Britain's national anthem upon her arrival.

Before the day was done, William and Kate made their way back to the Buckingham Palace balcony where they shared that famed kiss on their wedding day, though this time they were only out there to watch the traditional flypost rather than thrill the world.

This was also the first time the entire royal family had gathered in public since William and Kate's April 29 nuptials.
