The California Attorney General is reportedly preparing to conduct an inquiry into whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger used (or rather, misused) taxpayer funds in order to cover up his extramarital affairs during his years as governor.

According to Radar Online, William Taylor, who identified himself as a former head of security at a Sacramento hotel frequented by the Schwarzeneggers, told the National Enquirer that he witnessed Arnold taking advantage of California Highway Patrol officers and vehicles, directing them at his whim to ferry women to and from his and wife Maria Shriver's usual suite at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency.
We hasten to add, never when Shriver was also present.
Ulrich Samitz, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, says that he is not familiar with a William Taylor and that Schwarzenegger "was always respectful to our associates during his stay."
The tabloid noted that Taylor's claims stood up to a polygraph test, though as the Attorney General isn't discussing any would-be investigation, it's unclear if his allegations are the sole basis (or even played a part) in the rumored inquiry.
However, he did go into great detail about the times various women were escorted into the hotel and in which vehicles—usually the black Ford Crown Victoria sedans used by the CHP's Dignitary Protection Services—they traveled.
Meanwhile, while they didn't confirm or deny that an investigation is in the works, many retired officers have already publicly denying reports that the CHP was used in such a way.
Former CHP Sergeant Mark Hammond, who was on Governator duty for seven years, says that he never saw Arnold "say or do anything that could be deemed inappropriate" and denies that any cover-up took place under his watch.
Ditto Schwarzenegger's attorney Marty Singer, who maintains that the cover-up story is completely fabricated.
"Unfortunately," Singer said in a statement to E! News, "the media's relentless desire for new information has some outlets running stories that are made up by paying sources that have zero credibility. My client stated from the beginning that he takes full responsibility for his actions and deserves the public and media criticism. This does not entitle some in the media to be totally irresponsible."
Even if he's in the clear in this case, Arnold isn't short on problems, as his second alleged mistress has chosen today to tell her side of the story.
Gigi Goyette, who met Schwarzenegger in the 1970s, prior to his marriage to Maria but when Gigi was only 16 (to Arnold's 27), said that they became involved immediately.
"He has this overpowering way with women that you get weak," she told Extra. "It's pretty much the first time I had sex with anybody in my life."
Ten years later, the duo reconnected—even though by that time Arnold was already a married man. It was at then, she said, that she began working at Arnold's Annual Fitness Convention in Ohio, and it didn't take long for the professional relationship to cross the line.
Again, Singer pointed to the alleged M.O. du jour—money.
"This woman recently sold at least four stories to the tabloids relating to my client," Singer told People. "She's just a person who wants to make money selling stories. Her actions speak for themselves."
Goyette, who was first named in an Enquirer story about Arnold's alleged dalliances back in 2001, told Extra that she and Schwarzenegger reignited their physical relationship and had several intimate encounters, often while Maria and his children were staying with him at the hotel.
"Arnold is a very physical and sexual man, with a voracious appetite that likes a lot of physical attention," she said, adding that she suspected he engaged in similar affairs with other women at the time.
However, while Goyette was aware at the time that Schwarzenegger was a married man, she claims to know better now and offered up an apology to Maria—that such a statement could extend her 15 minutes, we're sure, has no bearing on its genuineness.
"I am very sorry for the mistakes I made in the past and for being intimate with your husband, and I would hope that you would forgive me for that," she said.
Though probably not as sorry as Maria is.
