Bristol Palin is in denial.

After debuting a brand-new face look last week, many (including a leading plastic surgeon) suggested the budding reality-TV starlet had some serious nip/tucking done.

But now, a source very close to Palin says the surgery rumors are "unfair"—and insist that there's a completely knife-free explanation to the dramatic difference in her appearance.

"The side by sides that were shown were unfair," the Palin insider tells E! News. "In one picture, Bristol's 18 years old and postpartum [she's now 20], and in the other she's lost 15 pounds and is wearing professional makeup that was airbrushed on. She also has extensions."

So there.

Last week, we invited a professional plastic surgeon to dissect Palin's sleeker-looking new mug.

While Dr. Brian Glatt noted the different hairstyle and evident weight loss, he said he believed there was a "dramatic difference" that indicated she may have had lipo throughout her neck, in addition to a possible chin implant and lip injections.

What do you think: Is Bristol's new appearance the work of some Michelangelo of makeup or did Sarah Palin's spawn go the surgery route?

In either case, we'll be seeing a lot more of Bristol's new features soon enough. Her new reality show costarring former Dancing With the Stars cohort Kyle Massey has been picked up by the Bio Channel and will air later this year.
