Forthcoming super-dude pops the question to Olympian-in-training girlfriend Ellen Whitaker

Tudors star and Superman-to-be Henry Cavill has popped the question to his Olympian-in-training leading lady, Lois Lane Ellen Whitaker, a rep for the actor confirmed to E! News.

"I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him," Ellen, who's currently training to make Great Britain's showjumping team for the 2012 Olympics, told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."

If that was the impression she was laboring under, then the engagement must have only just occurred—Cavill turns 28 tomorrow.

And gentleman that he is (oh, swoon), Henry even sought the permission of Ellen's father prior to getting down on bended knee.

No wedding date was immediately announced for the couple.
