Here's one star Donald Trump can't fire.
But he can still fire back.
The Celebrity Apprentice host (and potential GOP presidential candidate) took a moment during an appearance today on Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends to explain why he fired La Toya Jackson respond to Robert De Niro's fiery comments over the weekend that Trump and other so-called birthers needed to "get the facts before you start saying things about people." (Namely, people who are President Barack Obama.)
So did Trump laugh it off as a little disagreement between New York City icons? Um, no…
In between talking OPEC, his voting record and the future of Trump-branded beauty pageants should he become president, the real estate mogul said of the Obama-supporting Meet the Fockers star: "Well, he's not the brightest bulb in the planet. I have been watching him over the years and I like his acting but in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we are not dealing with Albert Einstein. He can say what he wants but the fact is this guy [President Obama] has not revealed his birth certificate. A lot of people agree with me. With all that I do, what I do best is China, jobs, OPEC. That's what I do best, that is going to be my strength."
With all due respect to China, jobs and OPEC, it could be argued that this is what Trump does best: doling out provocative, often self-serving soundbites that keep us talking about a hot button issue that's factually been put to rest as well as chattering about the media entity known as Donald Trump.
Who may or may not be running for president.
