LeAnn Rimes is feeling introspective. Could it be that she wants to put the past behind her and set the record straight on the admittedly "messy" start and end of her relationships with Eddie Cibrian and Dean Sheremet before she reportedly strolls down the aisle this weekend? It's possible.

But while neither LeAnn nor her reps seem too eager to discuss the finer points of her romantic (very near) future, she's been more than candid about her romantic past in a new documentary—at least if our exclusive clip of the Backstory: LeAnn Rimes, airing on the Great American Country channel this Sunday, is anything to go by.

Both LeAnn and her mother Belinda discuss the fallout from the affair, both in terms of Rimes' public perception and private life.

"I know I didn't do it the right way," LeAnn said of how she handled news of her affair with Eddie going public, saying that she simply didn't have the tools, the know-how or the strength to handle it properly at the time.

"It got really messy, but I have learned a lot from that and I'm not glad it happened, but I know why it did."

As for the fallout, including her divorce from Dean, well, it was tough.

"I think I felt really abandoned—abandoned is a really good word—because of a divorce," she said, referring to her parents' split when she was just a teenager. "The divorce became much bigger, because it was so publicized."

Publicized and of course scrutinized, much like her own split years later.

"I can't fight this public scrutiny," she said. "What happened is not who I am. It's not me at all."

Though despite that, it's a rap that the nation's most notorious (well, second most notorious) other woman can't seem to shake. Not that she's so bothered by it anymore.

"It changes. Time changes things. The imperfections have been what's made my life story interesting and so real and it's made me human."

We've got to give her kudos for her honesty, and just in the nick of time. After all, no bride wants their "something old" to be their sense of guilt.

As for those potential wedding bells, Saturday is rumored to be the day she swaps vows with Cibrian, though if that proves true, it's likely his children won't be among those bearing witness—this weekend is his ex, Brandi Glanville's, weekend with the kids. And we all know how supportive she's been of this pairing.
