Justin Timberlake Still Not Ready to Bring Sexy Back...Again

Singer turned actor denies that he's the artist behind a supposedly leaked new track

Remember last week when everyone was super excited about that leaked Justin Timberlake track? How visions of fewer movie roles and more solo albums danced in your heads?

Yeah, that was so 2010 of you.

Why? 'Cause that wasn't Justin. Not that it even sounded particularly like him to begin with, but apparently love is deaf as well as blind. We'll let him explain...

"Take You Down," the falsetto-less track (should've been your first clue) falsely attributed to Timberlake (and producers The Neptunes) made its way online last week and quickly built up momentum as the first new J.T. track in ages and proof, it seemed, that Justin hadn't forgotten his musical past and had even—dare to dream it!—been secretly recording new material.

That the track bore none of Timberlake's signature notes, beat-boxing skills or other assorted je ne sais quoi didn't matter much. Until now, that is, as the track's perplexing prevalence has led the singer actor to issue a formal denial.

"Various media outlets recently reported that a song called 'Take You Down' is a new track from Justin Timberlake," a rep for the star told EW.com. "These reports are untrue. The song is the work of a Danish artist named Rasmus Thude.

"Justin's representatives were not initially contacted to fact check the validity of these reports or if the song was, in fact, his. Justin has no involvement with either the song or the artist but wants to assure his fans that when he releases new music, they will be the first to know."

OK, Justin. Just know: an anxious nation awaits.
