Remember back in 2007 how Lil Wayne and Ja Rule were busted separately on the same night for gun charges.

We all know Lil Wayne did his time. Now it's Ja Rule's turn.

But he could be going away for much longer.

Rule (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) pleaded guilty today in a Manhattan courtroom to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

"Because of your guilty plea here today, you'll have a record of having committed a violent felony. This is a very serious matter," Justice Richard Carruthers told the rapper.

Ja Rule, who earned a Grammy nomination for the hit album Pain Is Love and appeared in The Fast and the Furious, will likely get two years in prison when he is sentenced in February.

Back in July 2007, Ja Rule made a surprise guest appearance at a Lil Wayne show in New York. Later that night, he was busted for speeding and had a semiautomatic pistol in his $250,000 car.

Weezy was busted later that night on similar charges in his tour bus. He was released last month after serving eight months of a one-year term.
