After she suffered a ruptured disc in her lower back earlier this month on the show's two-part finale, 50-year-old Dancing with the Stars champ Jennifer Grey had to undergo surgery to repair the injury, her rep confirms to E! News.
A "huge fragment" was removed from Grey's back during the operation and the entire procedure, performed by Dr. Robert S. Bray Jr., was a success, reports People.
And how's the Dirty Dancing star feeling?
"I'm still recovering at home. I have to rest a bit more, but I feel great—completely pain free," the actress says.
Her rep adds that the acrtess is "doing great."
Grey had checked into the D.I.S.C. Sports and Spine Center in Marina del Rey, Calif., to get the procedure done. Bray says that the actress won't be suffering for long and can quickly "go back to family, Pilates and dancing" and just about anything else she wants to do.
It was during the first part of the season finale of DWTS that Grey initially encountered some difficulty. She felt some minor pain in her lower back, but by the morning it had become unbearable and she was in tears.
"She could not move," says Bray.
After an MRI, Grey discovered she had the ruptured disc and treated it with steroids so she could continue on in the competition.
"There's no stopping her," Bray adds.
No doubt. She did leave with the mirror-ball trophy, after all.
