How Does Jessica Simpson Really Feel About Nick Lachey's Engagement?

Singer says she couldn't be happier about the pending nuptials between her ex-husband and Vanessa Minnillo

Yet another example of how you just can't believe everything you read.

When it broke last week that Nick Lachey is getting ready to tie the knot with Vanessa Minnillo, word spead like wildfire that his ex, Jessica Simpson, was pretty upset about the engagement news.

But Jess is making it clear that such speculation couldn't be further from the truth…

"I am extremely, extremely happy for him," she told Ryan Seacrest this morning on his radio show. "I don't know where all those rumors came from. My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick."

Of course, what would make the former Mrs. Lachey even happier is if folks would simply stop bringing up her name every time a story comes along involving her ex-hubby's personal life. 

"Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa.  I do, and I wish them nothing but the best."

Ah. If only all splits could be so amicable.
