Kanye West didn't want to answer any more questions about George W. Bush. Well, the feeling apparently wasn't mutual, as Matt Lauer went directly there during his live sitdown on the Today show this morning.

Yesterday—we're guessing before West launched into his Twitter rant about being so over the topic—the rapper dropped by the Today show studio to offer something of a final mea culpa on his infamous "George Bush doesn't care about black people" outburst. So what did he say? And more importantly, how did Dubya react?

"I would say of George Bush, in my moment of frustration, I didn't have the grounds to call him a racist," West said, in a clip shown live to Bush—who called the accusation the lowest point of his presidency—during the interview. "But I believe that in a situation of high emotion like that, we as human beings don't always choose the right words."

So, no hard feelings?

"I appreciate that," Bush said of the apology. "It wasn't just Kanye West who was talking like that during Katrina, I cited him as an example, I cited others as an example as well. You know, I appreciate that."

See? Maybe we can all just get along.
