Did John Mayer take half of Taylor Swift's heart?

All year, romance rumors have swirled about the singing twosome, who collaborated on John's song Half of My Heart.

But now there's a song on her new record Speak Now entitled "Dear John," which is about being mistreated by an older man. Taylor's never been scared to write about exes, but is he the "John" in question?

"No comment," Taylor's rep told E! News.

Earlier this year, the two were spotted out and about Nashville together. And in May, John was a surprise guest performing during Tay's Los Angeles show at the Staples Center, fanning the romance rumors.

And now comes this song.

Here are some of the lyrics penned by the 19-year-old singer: "Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone. Don't you think I was too young to be messed with, to be played by your dark, twisted games when I loved you so."

John's rep didn't respond to our request for comment, but Tay did tell Parade that some of her songs are very obvious.

"I like to make songs that are really detailed, really honest but make you wonder a little bit who they're about," she told the magazine. "Sometimes I'll mention names, sometimes I'll mention dates and times and details and it's all pretty clear. But I don't need to make it so obvious that other people can't apply their lives to it."

Like Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Aniston perhaps?

If only John was still on Twitter and we could go straight to the oversharing source. In the meantime, we'll just have to wonder. And maybe buy the album and listen for ourselves.

Hey, nice marketing, Team Taylor!
