Looks like Jimmy Smits may have left a distinguished position on the Supreme Court for nothing.
NBC has put the legal drama Outlaw on so-called production hiatus starting tomorrow, which means it's basically one confirmation hearing away from cancellation unless its audience grows in the next few weeks.
A paltry 4.7 million people (not nearly enough of whom were 18-49) tuned into last Friday's episode, making Outlaw on of the 10 least-watched series on broadcast TV.
On the flip side, its competition in the 10 p.m. time-slot, CBS' Blue Bloods, is chugging right along on the strength of Tom Selleck's mustache.
