Not Even Man-Wash Can Cover Up Stench of T.I.'s Ecstasy Arrest

King of the South may not be King of AXE for much longer given his most recent run-in with the law

T.I.'s legal woes could get him axed by AXE.

The folks behind the men's body spray are reconsidering their business relationship with the rapper a week after he was busted on drug charges with his singer-wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle.

"We are troubled by this arrest," an AXE rep said in a statement. "In order to preserve the legal process, AXE will comment at a later time, as appropriate. In the meantime, we are reviewing our promotional activities."

Sure smells bad for T.I.

The hip-hopster/Takers star partnered with the company last year on a promotional campaign that included a performance with Mary J. Blige as the first in a series of mystery concerts, as well as starring in online videos and making various personal appearances.

But given the hip-hopster's recent extracurricular activities, the deal appears to be in jeopardy.

T.I. and Tiny were busted on Sept. 1 after a traffic stop on the Sunset Strip and booked on suspicion of possessing Ecstasy.

With the rapper already on parole for a 2008 conviction on federal illegal weapons charges, he was ordered back to Atlanta to report to his probation officer. The self-proclaimed King of the South is just six months into three years' supervised release after getting out of prison last March and could potentially face more time behind bars if found in violation.

A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office says that the case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed nor arraignment date set.

In Atlanta, the U.S. Attorney's Office has not made any decision T.I.'s status. No probation violation hearing has been scheduled.

A publicist for the Grammy winner was unavailable for comment.

Meanwhile, AXE likes its men fresh-scented and legally clean. And it's not marketing to inmates. (Don't drop the AXE!)

"AXE is committed to respecting and upholding the law and promoting a positive image to consumers," the company said. "T.I. and AXE partnered earlier this year for a promotional campaign. We were encouraged that the entertainer was working to become a more positive role model for others."

Now, not so much.
