Sandra Bullock announced last week she really was done with Jesse James and ready to "move on."

And just who may be the next man in her life? How about fellow Oscar owner Tom Hanks!

In what is shaping up to be her first role since last year's The Blind Side and the domestic drama that followed, Bullock is prepared to star in a big-screen adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's acclaimed post-9/11 novel, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, with Hanks in support.

A source tells E! News the movie is definitely happening but Hanks' part is "very small," closer to an appearance rather than a "costarring" role opposite Bullock.

Bullock's rep confirms that the actress wants to do the movie. Hanks' publicist was mum on the casting.

Hollywood überproducer Scott Rudin has been developing Loud since 2005,  when the book hit stores, one of the first literary efforts to tackle the terrorist attacks, albeit indirectly through the eyes of an inventive 9-year-old boy. Movie blog, Thompson on Hollywood, was the first to report the Bullock and Hanks news.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close follows the boy after he finds a key in a vase that belonged to his father, who died on that terrible day, and embarks on an offbeat quest for information as to what it unlocks.

Warner Bros. and Paramount will cofinance and distribute the flick.

OK, so it ain't Miss Congeniality 3, but we're just looking forward to Sandra getting back to work. It's been way too long.
