The woman accused of slashing Leonardo DiCaprio's face is looking to slash her alleged crime from the record.

Aretha Wilson today pleaded not guilty to one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon, a whopping five years after she was first booked for allegedly slicing Leo's mug with a broken beer bottle at a Hollywood party.

So, what took so long?

Wilson had to be extradited back to Los Angeles from Canada, where the now 40-year-old fled after the 2005 incident (she was also held up thanks to some time she had to serve up there, as well). As recently as July, Wilson had remained on the lam.

But no longer. DiCaprio, who sustained a gash near his ear and 12 stitches after the attack, took a restraining order out against her earlier this year. (According to the initial police report, it was a case of mistaken identity as Wilson allegedly confused DiCaprio with a scorned ex.)

And despite her sojourn to our northern neighbors, it now it looks like Wilson may be stateside for a very, very long time—if convicted on the charge, she could face up to seven years in prison.

She's currently being held on $150,000 bail and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 23.
