Awww, poor Biebs lost his Trending Topics spot. Rejoice, non-Beliebers! Or break out the sad faces, Beliebers!

Justin Bieber used to be the Trending Topic that would never go away, always just sitting there on the right-hand column of everyone's page. He owned Twittertown with his flirty tweets ;) and adoring fans willing to take Bieber-themed quizzes all day long.

But Twitter is finally taking action and declaring an end to Bieber tyranny. The microblogging platform has changed up the formula used to determine its trending topics in order to include topics that are popular right now rather than long-term.

While Beliebers were saddened at first, they persevered and found a way to make this work...

And so the topics Twieber and Jieber were born.

The Biebs had to respond; he couldn't believe Twitter would screw him over like that: "@twitter i heard you changed your system to stop my fans from making trending topics?? Really?? Where is the love??" he tweeted then tweleted.

Twitter did its part to talk him down and he eventually saw the positive in the situation, thanking his fans for their creative thinking: "and yes i see what all u fans are doing. like i tell everyone. i have the best most loyal smartest and dedicated fans in the world. I love u."

Awww, so touching. And as for all you non-Beliebers, you can now enjoy a more Bieber-free Twitter experience, but watch out for Jick Nonas.
