If you saw Iron Man 2 last weekend, you're familiar with this new Inception trailer. At first, the opening 15 seconds of the trailer made us snarkily envision the original pitch meeting that went down in some studio exec's office two or three years ago. Something like this:
Producer: So there's this guy, a security consultant…But he isn't your typical security consultant…
Exec: I'm listening….
Producer: He deals with subconscious security.
Exec: You mean dreams?
Producer: Yes!
Exec: Greenlight! This is a go, people!
And with Leo DiCaprio's whisper talking, it didn't seem like an opening that really sold the movie. But then the deep orchestral horns hit as Christopher "Dark Knight" Nolan's name flashed on the screen and we instantly switched from rolling our eyes to "Why is July 16 so far away! We want to see it now!"
Plus, the cast, in one word: awesome. Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard (quelle beauté), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe and Cillian Murphy.
