If you're putting a lot of stock into what Jim Carrey writes on Twitter about Tiger Woods...well, that's your misfortune.
"To anyone whose grievances have chosen me as their cause, I would say first, that I recognize that tendency in myself, but if you knew me well, you'd see that your resentment has been misplaced," read the cerebral funnyman's latest tweets, which were also compiled in a statement released Tuesday by his rep.
"I wish every human being nothing but love and immeasurable happiness. Now, I'm going to re-enter the Twitter stream and see if there is anyone left to offend!"
So far, so good. But the resentment Carrey's referring to here is the public response to a suggestion he made last week that Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, was somewhat of a willing party to the golf great's infidelity.
"Elin had 2 b a willing participant on the ride 4 whatever reason. Kids/lifestyle," Carrey wrote Friday.
Big mistake there, buddy. You know darn well, Jim, that all the haters out there were going to automatically name you both the last word on the subect and the biggest a-hole of all time.
The recently single star tried to clarify on Saturday, writing that in no way does he condone infidelity (and he really just wanted to point out that none of us have the right to pass sweeping judgment on Tiger and his wife), but the word was already out.
