How's this for some nasty news for Nas: A California judge ordered the "You Owe Me" emcee to pony up nearly $300,000 to ex-wife Kelis for failing to live up to the terms of their divorce.
Per documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the rapper (real name: Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones) must immediately pay his former "Milkshake" missus more than $47,000 in back child support to help care for their infant son, Knight Jones, in addition to $40,500 in back spousal support.
But wait, there's more!
Nas, who pleaded not guilty in February to contempt of court, was also ordered by Judge David Cunningham to fork over $155,000 in legal fees and another $48,000 in accounting expenses.
Beginning May 1, Nas will be required to pay the balance of that $299,000 at the rate of $10,000 a month until the debt is fully paid off. If he fails to make good, the hip-hopster could face jail time.
In a statement, Nas said, "All I want to do is make music and raise my kids. Nothing else matters."
The couple has been engaged in a testy legal battle since Kelis filed for divorce in April 2009, two months before Knight's birth, citing irreconcilable differences.
