At this rate, Charlie Sheen might have to hitch to Aspen for Monday's court date.

The Two and a Half Men star is minus one car after somebody stole his Mercedes-Benz four-door sedan and ended up driving it over a cliff along the famed Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

The scene played out on L.A. morning shows, with helicopters circling the crash site.

Sheen, meanwhile, was home, blissfully unaware that his sedan was stolen until he was alerted by his Benz that things were amiss.

"The Mercedes has some kind of system, and because an airbag went off it automatically called 911," LAPD spokesman Richard French told E! News.

According to Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Fire Department, someone called in a car over a cliff at approximately 4 a.m. At around the same time, the actor phoned in a missing-vehicle report. Searchers found the Mercedes on its side some 400 feet down a ravine.

Firefighters and two helicopter units were the first to be dispatched to the scene but did not find any victims in the wreckage.

Authorities do not yet have a suspect but continue to investigate the incident. Several squad cars are now at Sheen's Sherman Oaks home, where detectives have been interviewing the star.

For his part, Sheen tells The Insider that he had gone to bed at around 10:45 p.m. Thursday to rest up for tonight's taping of his hit CBS sitcom. He was awaken by his car's emergency-detection service, discovered the Mercedes was missing, and called the cops to report a stolen vehicle.

"It was nice to have police come to my house and for once I didn't have to leave with them," cracked Sheen.

Presumably he has back-up transportation to ferry him to Aspen on Monday to be charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor assault for a Christmas Day attack on wife Brooke Mueller.
