Quentin Tarantino's band of brothers (plus the stunning Diane Kruger) scored the top film prize—Outstanding Performance by a Cast—at tonight's 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Of course, you didn't have to be a Basterd to win big tonight, but being a little Mad, a little Crazy, a little Gleeky or simply Blind might not hurt.
Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock continued their awards season tears and took home the Male and Female Actor Actors for their roles in Crazy Heart and The Blind Side respectively.
Both first-time winners were appropriately aghast by their honor, but Bullock wished she could be a little less TV-friendly.
"If only this were not televised and I could use the appropriate words I'm thinking right now," she said. "I am Sandra Bullock and I'm an actor, and I am so proud to say that in a room full of faces that have inspired me."
Sandy had the distinct honor of handing Betty White her Lifetime Achievement Award, which was a surprising highlight of the telecast. It's not every day the presenter finds the recipient irritating.
"There's a lot to admire," she said. "Me, I find Betty White annoying. I'm sorry, it's true. Betty, you make me feel bad about myself. You make me feel like a slacker."
Once at the podium, the Golden Girl began her speech in equally good fun.
"With all the wonderful things that have happened to her, isn't it heartening to see how far a girl as plain as she is can go?" White teased.
The funny started early, when Alec Baldwin scored for Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in 30 Rock.
"I'm really happy to get an award from Justin Timberlake, but I'm really, really happy to get an award from Kate Hudson," he flirted with his presenters.
Fellow Rocker Tina Fey was the only person to make a blatant reference to all the TV drama happening these days, and she certainly made her stance known when she took home her third straight win for Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
"I just wanted to take a moment to say to everyone at NBC: We are very happy with everything and happy to be there, so thank you," she clarified.
The cast of Glee had some fabulous déjà vu of last weekend's Golden Globes when it scored for Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Jane Lynch spoke on behalf of the cast and couldn't stop with the TRL-inspired (we're sure) "Whoos!"
Jon Hamm took the mic when Mad Men scored for Ensemble in a Drama Series, but he spoke on behalf of his facial hair.
"It's an honor just to be in this room with all of you insanely talented people," he said. "I'd like to thank the male members of our cast for getting the note about growing a beard, except Jared [Gilmore, who plays his son]. Way to go buddy. Way to drop the ball."
Michael C. Hall, who donned his saddening skullcap yet again, was thankful for more than just his win for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
"To my castmates, thank you for your professionalism and your talent and for your willingness to endure all those awkward pauses while Dexter thinks his voiceover," he said. "Thank you to my wife, Jennifer [Carpenter]. Thank you for wearing that dress."
Julianna Margulies took home a trophy for Female Lead Actor in a Drama—her in total—and confessed to a slithering shortcoming, at least in the eyes of her parents.
"I just have to say, my mother and father call me after every single episode [of The Good Wife], and they've been so supportive of me and have such interest in my life and every role I take," she said. "Well, except Snakes on a Plane. They weren't proud of that one."
A breathless Drew Barrymore was so excited to accept her award for her performance in Grey Gardens she admitted to feeling "really sick," while Taking Chance's Kevin Bacon thanked his family for trusting that he'd "always come back" from whatever faraway place or persona he takes on for his craft.
