Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to E! News that the heiress was found dead in her Los Angeles home today.
Johnson's fiancée, reality television star Tila Tequila, announced the news earlier this evening.
"Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson," Tequila tweeted. "She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family."
Johnson's body was discovered today at her L.A. home. She was just 30 years old...
Faden said the death appears to be natural with no signs of foul play, adding that the coroner's office will be performing its own investigation and conducting toxicology tests.
A neighbor tells E! News that Johnson's maid came out of the home and screamed, "She's dead!"
Johnson is the daughter of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and socialite Sale Johnson.
The heiress, who adopted her daughter, Ava, from Kazakhstan in 2007, announced Dec. 9 that she Tequila were engaged to be married.
Just days before she and Tequila made their big announcement, Johnson was arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry, shoes, legal documents, clothing and underwear from a former friend, British model and socialite Jasmine Lennard. Johnson was turned in by former girlfriend Courtenay Semel.
"She was troubled, very, very troubled," a source close to the family says.
Rumored to have long battled substance abuse, Johnson was also diagnosed at age 8 with diabetes.
Johnson said on many occasion that she thought she would die at a young age, according to the family source: "She always said she'd be dead before she was 30."
Johnson's last Facebook update was on Tuesday and read, "Sweet Dreams Everyone." The day before, she posted, "happy as a clam!!! XOX"
