The embattled golfer's wife said sayonara to the scandal surrounding her life in the States, and went skiing in the snowy French Alps on New Year's Day—which just so happened to be her 30th birthday.
"I recognized Elin immediately," Gri Shondig, a tourist on vacation from Bergen, Norway, tells E! News. "She was chatting happily to her sister and talking about which skis to hire."
Eyewitnesses say that Nordegren's party left Les Houches on Sunday, but had been staying in the posh French chalet near the resort town of Chamonix for the past week, and spared no expense.
Her twin sister, Josefin, as well as several other close friends, was camped out in the $8,000-a-night, seven-room digs, keeping Nordegren company on her getaway.
No word on how her philandering hubby, who has remained MIA since his Thanksgiving Day car crash, rang in 2010. But if he needs help working on his resolutions, we've got a couple of suggestions for him...
