New Pics: Lindsay Lohan Really Did Go to India

While Lindsay's claims of saving the lives of 40 children are being disputed, at least there's evidence she visited India...

Lindsay Lohan spent last week in India where she filmed a BBC Three documentary on child trafficking. Not only did she tweet that she'd saved 40 children as part of one day's work, but she also managed to knock down a couple of rumors going around stateside at the same time. Multitasker extraordinaire, this one.

But what's this? Someone's calling BS on her claim. You mean, Lindsay really didn't save lives?!

According to the Telegraph, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, the organization that actually helped save the 40 children, is pretty outraged over Lindsay's tweet. The raid that rescued the kids took two months of planning (not one day's work) and was carried out before Lohan even arrived in India. An activist for the group says Lindsay "portrays dangerous child rescue operations as superficial events, which could be carried out in a day by passing celebrities."

The BBC released a statement that sort of defended Linds: "We would like to stress that she did not say she was present at the raid, this is a misinterpretation. She was merely referring to a raid that happened connected to child trafficking—the subject of the programme."

So while Lindsay's child-saving claims are up in the air, at least photos released today show that Lindsay really went to India and did something more than just twitter. While visiting a charity home for girls and women on Dec. 11, Linds wore a bindi and "looked like Mother Teresa" (photo agency's words, not ours).

Lindsay has since hung up her bindi and returned home so she can get to work on a new project: selling her used clothes.
