It takes a village to pin down the right engagement date of a former first daughter.

Despite several erroneous gun-jumping reports over the summer that Chelsea Clinton had already been made a missus, Bill and Hillary's only child has confirmed that she is finally set to marry longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky.

The 29-year-old bride-to-be spilled the engagement news in a mass email to friends—who apparently weren't shy about forwarding said email to the press—on Friday morning.

"We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving!" the email read. "We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us."

The 31-year-old Mezvinsky, an investment banker and the son of a former Iowa congressman and Pennsylvania congresswoman, and Clinton, currently a grad student at Columbia University's School of Public Health, struck up a friendship during her White House heyday. They reportedly grew closer while both were undergrads at Stanford University, though they didn't start dating until 2005.

As for their summer wedding, the guest list will undoubtedly be heavy on heads of state, which means the Secret Service has a good six or seven months to brush up on their invitation-checking techniques.

Will the Clinton wedding be as star-studded an affair as our Hollywood Gets Political gallery? We can only hope.
