Mark Schwahn, the creator of the hit series One Tree Hill, is back with The Royalsan exciting new show that offers viewers a fresh perspective on royalty.

The Royals stars an impressive cast that includes Elizabeth Hurley, Vincent Regan, William Moseley and Alexandra Park, each of whom will portray a member of a fictional royal family in modern-day London.

"I just thought it would be really interesting to take a look behind the curtain," Schwahn reveals. "Who are these people? What do they want? What will they do to get it? I thought it was really fascinating and a great idea for the foundation of a story."

The series, which debuts in early March, will depict the royal family's lavish lifestyles and will include plenty of drama, love triangles, deadly secrets, and more.

"It's a very nice combination of what the public sees and what the public will never see," adds Hurley (who plays Queen Helena). "And we had a lot of fun doing the latter bit."

Moseley, who plays the Queen's son Prince Liam, also looks forward to sharing the secret side of the monarchy with viewers.

"The royal family is this sort of enchantment, it's like a fairytale," he explains. "And I think that we bring you into that fairytale. We take you there and we show you everything."

"We're gonna tell these traditional old school stories about love, hate, lust, and revenge," Schwahn points out. "We're gonna tell all of these stories but we're gonna do it in a way that you haven't seen, with people you haven't met, and on a stage and a platform that has incredible stakes."
