On this week's episode of Opening Act, the Artist Development Team needs to find a performer to open for rap superstar Nicki Minaj.

They find the perfect fit in R&B group Gotham Citi, so Olivia Lee is off to Brooklyn to surprise them. The group of four thinks they're being filmed for a basketball documentary when they get the news that their lives are about to change.

It's only a week until their performance, but the first stop is Los Angeles to meet Nigel Lythgoe.

Only problem is that as soon as Clif, CJ, DiJuan and Jonathan perform for the team, it's clear that the group lacks the vocal harmony they'll need to survive onstage. Enter Nick Cooper, who helps to bring them into focus when it comes to singing.

Hooray! Problem solved, right?

Not so fast, because the next step is choosing the perfect song, and even though Gotham Citi is teamed up with producing legends, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, they can't help but shake the feeling that something isn't quite right.

Even though it's 24 hours until performance time, they make a call to Nigel and tell him they want to change the song. It's a risky move, but Nigel agrees to let them sing a song they recorded on their own called, "I Want You."

Performance time comes, and with the right song and newly tuned vocals, Gotham Citi nails it! So much so that Nicki comes backstage to tell the group how proud she is to have had them on her stage.
