Oh, Connie Britton, how we love thee… Your hair blew up the Twitterverse last night and rightfully so. We're surprised it didn't have it's own hashtag. We assume that when women get their hair extensions they bring in a picture of your lush locks. Those loose sexy waves were perfection and they had just the right amount of volume and bounce. You gave us total hair envy.
Okay, January Jones really needs to get over trying to look avant-garde. Perhaps she panicked at her grandma's curtains dress and asked her makeup artist to make her edgy by converting her eyes into two black eyes on the mend. We will say we liked the hair. We would have loved the hair if it didn't clash so hard with her creepy eye makeup and doily dress.
It's so true that a good haircut can transform a look. We have such a girl crush on Elisabeth Moss with her new platinum choppy bob. It's sexy and edgy yet looked pretty and sophisticated on the red carpet. We also loved her bright red lip, which made her porcelain skin glow and gave her makeup look a vintage feel.
We really wish Lena Dunham would ask Elisabeth Moss who cuts her hair because the Girls creator and star desperately needs a new ‘do. We feel like every time we see Lea on the red carpet she's sporting a new unflattering haircut. Last night's cut may get the award for the worst. It was like a DIY pageboy. Though, we did love her edgy green eye makeup, which matched her dress and made her brown eyes sparkle.
Wow, Emily Deschanel certainly showed her sister last night who is boss of the red carpet. Zooey may have looked cute standing by herself but once she hit that stage with her stunning sister, all eyes went to Emily's bright green eyes and fuchsia lips. The slate blue eyeliner and eyeshadow made her eyes sparkle and the shiny fuchsia lip gave this look the perfect shock of color.
Kate Mara literally looks like she jumped out of the shower, threw some heavy gel in her hair and gave it an extreme side part. Why does she always insist on oil slicking her hair? Someone needs to hide the gel and pomade from this girl stat and get her in some romantic finger curls.
When we first saw Claire Danes, we thought for certain she had bobbed her hair. Not only was this the best, smoothest faux bob we've ever seen, we think she should cut her hair like this for reals! It looked so gorgeous with her delicate features. And sugar on top – we loved that the Homeland starlet rocked a stunning siren red lip and highlighted cheeks to bring the look together.
Christina Hendricks, what were you thinking? You were the most beautiful ginger in Hollywood! You gave up your signature rich red for what, strawberry blond? And then you let your hairstylist take a brush to your 1930s hairstyle last night making it a poufy mess. We expect more from you, Christina. Joan would have never stood for such hijinks.
Someone really needs to talk to Anna Faris about that wall of platinum bangs which looks like it's swallowing her face. Combined with the yellow in her dress, this girl looks just plain washed out. And quite frankly her makeup artist wasn't doing her any favors by putting her in that soft coral lip and boring black eye makeup. Just look at her! She obviously needs some color! Stat!
We were so happy for Taylor Schilling… Not only is her show Orange Is the New Black one of the most buzzed about shows this year, but she totally rocked her first Emmy red carpet appearance. We loved the retro finger curls framing her face, her matte tawny brown smoky eye and especially her vampy wine lip color, which gave this look just the right dose of color.
As soon as we saw Julianna Margulies step out of her limo we knew she would be one of our favorite looks of the night. We're dying to know what conditioning treatment the Good Wife star uses to make those raven locks shine brighter than her borrowed diamonds. We loved the simple yet sophisticated loose ponytail with strategically placed wisps around the face.
Obviously it's not possible for Sofia Vergara to look bad but we do think she could have looked better. The flattened down hair at the top of her head just doesn't make sense – and her hairstylist didn't do the best job of smoothing the teased crown. It just kind of looked like a hairstyle you would get in a mall salon when you were in a rush getting ready to attend a wedding.
We love you Allison Williams for showing girls everywhere how to accentuate their best features without overdoing it. The Girls star's chestnut hair spilled in princess tendrils over her shoulders and down her back. And, instead of layering on tons of eye makeup, she wore a subtle light copper eye shadow and dark liner along the lash line to bring out the pale blue in her eyes. Perfection.
Anyone who regularly reads Beauty Police knows we're borderline stalkers of Kerry Washington. While her hair was perfection last night and her subtly smoky eye makeup was spot on, our usual 10 gets knocked down to an 8. Yep, the Scandal star committed a cardinal red carpet beauty sin –she lined her lips with lip liner and then slicked a sheer gloss over it. Not acceptable.
