We know it's got to be tough for Sarah Jessica Parker, bouncing from city to city, promoting her new shoe collection. But there's no excuse for the Sex in the City star showing up at her LA appearance looking like she literally just stepped off the red-eye (and with bad ‘80s hair, no less.)

Let's start with the hair: the only explanation for this trapped in the '80s, "hair-no-style" is that she thought she could give her face an instant lift by tightly pulling her hair up at the crown (an old Hollywood trick). But leaving all the other scraggly extensions to fend for themselves is no bueno.

And poor SJP needs some zzz's in a major way. We see puffiness and dark circles peeking out from underneath her concealer. She also needs to stop lining the inner rims of her eyes with dark colors - it's one of the worst things you can do for swollen, tired eyes. It literally closes your eyes and makes them appear much smaller.

Beauty Bailout: We get that SJP didn't want to bother with her hair (that much is definitely apparent) and that she perhaps wanted to give her face an instant lift. We would have much rather seen her pull all her hair up either into a messy topknot or high chignon to get the desired effect.

As for her tired eyes, before she even puts on a speck of makeup she needs to treat her eyes to a de-puffing and brightening patch mask like Klorane Soothing and Relaxing Patches for Tired Eyes. Tip: Always keep eye masks and gels in the fridge for an extra dose of de-puffing action.

Next, she should apply a brightening and hydrating eye cream like Suki Eye Lift Radiance Renewal Cream in a light tapping motion to her under-eye area. Tip: NEVER rub the fragile skin around the eye!

Once eye cream is absorbed, SJP should apply a light-diffusing, hydrating concealer packed with anti-aging ingredients like Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer SPF 15 with a concealer brush or her finger in a tapping motion. Tip: Never apply a powder under your eyes or it will bring more attention to fine lines and wrinkles.

After the upper eye area is prepped with concealer or primer, SJP should cover the entire upper eye area with a matte cream-colored powder eye shadow.Next, she should apply a light brown matte eye shadow like MAC Eye Shadow in Saddle right above the crease in a windshield wiper motion. This makes the eyes instantly appear larger.

Instead of using harsh, dark liner, SJP should line her upper lash line with a shimmering bronze eyeliner pencil like Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner. Then, she should smudge the line to diffuse any harsh edges and give her eyes a soft-focus look.

Next, she should use the same eyeliner to line just the outer corners of her lower lash line to further open the eyes. She should complete "Project Eye Wake Up" with two to three coats of a volume-building mascara.

We really hope Sarah Jessica steps it up at her next SJP Shoe Collection appearance. Perhaps we set the bar too high since we're such fans of the always put-together Carrie Bradshaw. But here's to hoping SJP starts asking herself, "What would Carrie Bradshaw do?" before leaving the house. Answer: Fake some sleep and lose the bad ‘80s hair.
