Julia Roberts

Hold your tweet fire about Julia Roberts getting surprise re-married in insane attire. This gauzey gown is for a fashion shoot in Malibu where no priest, current or future husband is present. Then why is the Academy Award nominee wearing a big day dress? We can't answer that question...

What we do know is that this moment made us instantly wonder if we'd ever walk the aisle in a color other than cream? Or, more specifically, could we be a bride in black?

There's good company in the dark dress history books. Sarah Jessica Parker wore a raven, strapless gown to say "I Do" in '97, Avril Lavigne went dark and romantic for her fairytale wedding, Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo chose a YSL in jet black, and Shenae Grimes donned a grey on black Vera Wang creation.

So does the precedent of four celebs make bucking tradition okay in your books? We're going to have to stick with, "the bride wore white," rule (or the more modern ivory). What's your wedding day say?
