Poor Cameron Diaz boarded a yacht this past weekend with a perfectly coiffed, voluminous ponytail. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough gel and hairspray in the French Riviera to prevent her hair from frazzling as soon as the boat took to the waters.

We know this is a tough lesson to learn for all you ladies who have finer hair like Cameron's, but an updo simply isn't going to survive on a boat! At least not on a boat that actually leaves the dock.

But crazy hair aside, her makeup was perfection. The waters of Monaco were no match for her waterproof eyeliner. And we loved her perfectly sun-kissed cheeks!

Beauty Bailout:  Ladies with fine hair, we wish we had a magical hair product that would hold your updos and ponytails in place and wouldn't make your hair look greasy, but it just doesn't exist.

The best thing to do for your ‘do is give it some texture, which will make it look more windswept than wind-warped. While your hair is still wet, use your fingers to comb a strong hold gel or wax through your locks. Pick a product that won't make your hair crispy, like Pureology Control Twist High Hold Liquid Wax. Then, use a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer to blow dry your hair.

If your hair refuses to hold any sort of texture, wear a cute, thin headband like Kitsch Headbands, which come in a variety of colors and patterns. These are great to keep in your evening bag in case your hair decides to block your line of vision.

Get Her Makeup Look: While Cameron's hair clearly signaled rough waters, her makeup told a different story. It's easy to get her sun-kissed, pink cheeks: If you have oily skin, just apply a powder blush like Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush. Or, if your skin tends to be on the dry side, try a gel or cream blush like Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Quickie.

Make sure your eye makeup doesn't budge by applying waterproof eyeliner on both the top and bottom lash lines and then smudging both lines into the base of your lashes (this softens the look). And Cameron used a plum eyeliner like Mally Beauty Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Royal Plum to make her blue eyes pop.

So if you're in the same boat as Cameron this summer (don't we all wish we were on a yacht in Cannes), don't forget to keep a headband handy and apply waterproof makeup. The waters may have turned on Cameron's coif but at least her makeup kept her looking like a fair sea-maiden!
