Jennifer Hudson Time Travels to the '80s at Grammy Tribute for Whitney Houston

Before you make fun of this outfit, which we so very badly wanted to do, read on

When we first saw this photo we thought, "Gee, Jennifer Hudson usually doesn't make our jobs this easy. Where to start, the Square Pegs-style half-updo? The lipstick that looks like it's been sitting in a Caboodles train case since 1984? The spangly jacket lifted from a Solid Gold Dancer?

And then we discovered that Hudson was appearing at a tribute for Whitney Houston. The event, which will be broadcast in November on CBS, inspired Hudson to honor Houston's look from the year 1987.
