Patrick Wilson's brief but memorable performance on HBO's Girls still has fans talking…and not everyone is being kind.

On Tuesday's Chelsea Lately, the actor looked back at the "One Man's Trash" episode where Wilson enjoyed a passionate two-day relationship with Lena Dunham's character.

Wilson described passionate fans of the show who couldn't believe Dunham shared such wild and steamy sex scenes with Wilson.

"It was awful," Wilson told Chelsea Handler when recalling what people were saying online. "It's one thing for someone to talk and say, 'I would never believe a character like yours would do that.' But all of a sudden, people were tweeting, ‘Patrick Wilson would never have sex with this kind of woman.'"

Dunham herself responded to the idea that Wilson was too hot to sleep with someone like her. "There's so many forms of human capital, and they're not all looks," she told the Los Angeles Times. "I get so tired of having to cry out 'misogyny,' but that's what's going on in this situation."

The comments were so brutal that even more reinforcements were called in to help defend Dunham and the buzzworthy scenes.

Enter Wilson's wife Dagmara Domińczyk.

Chelsea knew all about Wilson's other half of more than seven years. "Your wife is Polish, right?" the host asked. "Those are tough bitches."

Tough is putting it lightly. Domińczyk wasn't "messing around" when she heard what fans were saying at home. As a result, she took to Twitter herself to reach out to the mean critics.

Wilson recalled the exact message his wife shared with viewers. "She tweeted, ‘His wife is a size 10 muffin top and he does her just fine.'" Oh, snap!

Even Chelsea was impressed by the comment.

"That was nice of your wife. Does she really have a muffin top?" As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished.

"I'm not going to get into that," The Conjuring actor said. Now that's a smart man!
