The puppeteer and voice of Sesame Street's Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch died on Dec. 8, 2019 at age 85. Many celebs took to social media to pay tribute to him hours after this death.
"RIP Caroll Spinney [crying emoji]," the Dancing With the Stars host tweeted.
"For close to three generations Caroll Spinney has taught us kindness, love, respect, joy and friendship," the Frozen actor tweeted. "Thank you for your brilliance. May you and Jim Henson find each other and make the heavens smile."
"R.I.P. Caroll Spinney," the actor tweeted.
The Jeopardy! champion tweeted, "The one time I met Caroll Spinney, he was in his 70s and still puppeteering Big Bird in that hot, heavy costume and he was the sweetest guy you could imagine."
The Broadway actress and singing voice of Princess Jasmine and Mulan wrote on Facebook, "Sigh. Rest In Peace, Caroll Spinney, and thank you for all the joy you brought to my childhood."
