"15 Seasons of Feels"
With its 15th season, Grey's Anatomy officially becomes ABC's longest-running primetime drama and ties with ER as the longest-running medical drama in the U.S. That's pretty nuts, especially when you consider that it's still one of the most popular shows on TV.
Even this many seasons in, there's still a whole lot going on, and we're keeping track of everything there is to know right here!
Grey's Anatomy season 15 premieres Thursday, September 27 on ABC.
Season of Love
This season has been deemed the season of love, which may seem redundant since this show's all about love, but apparently things are getting serious in 15.
The trailer for the season showed Meredith in bed with DeLuca, which caused some outrage among fans and got us asking a lot of questions, especially after DeLuca tried to kiss Mer in the finale. Is someone dreaming? If so, who?! Or is this hookup for real? We'll have to wait to find out.
An Untraditional Love Triangle
Owen was best friends with Teddy, but they couldn't make a relationship work. Owen married Amelia. Amelia had a brain tumor and divorced Owen. Owen hooked up with Teddy. Owen fostered a baby (and its drug addict teen mother), and got closer to Amelia again. Teddy got pregnant, and that's now where we are with probably the biggest storyline going into season 15.
Kim Raver tells us "it's not going to be the typical love triangle," and that "it gets complicated, but in a very multi-layered way."
Secrets to Keep
It seems that Maggie is the only one in on Teddy's big news for a while, meaning she's roped into this triangle in a way she'd rather not be (especially based on this facial expression at hearing the news).
"You know how Maggie feels about secrets, and now she's going to be in the middle of all that, so it's going to be hard," McCreary tells us.
An Unexpected Return
We know Teddy's back since we saw her ask Bailey for a job in the season 14 finale, but the rest of the staff doesn't yet know about her return or the fact that she's the new interim chief of surgery. From the looks of things, her presence at Grey Sloan is a bit of a shock to the other doctors.
Continued Recovery
James Pickens Jr. tells E! News that Richard will have an "interesting journey" this year after the death of his sponsor last season. "It puts him in a precarious position now where he's kind of grasping at some kind of contact or some support, so it's gonna be interesting watching him battle through this."
A New Gig
There's a new job open at Grey Sloan Memorial, and naturally everyone wants it. The first hour of the premiere finds the doctors vying for the position, though Meredith struggles to focus as she's distracted by...something.
Honeymooners
After they were wed (on a boat) in the season 14 finale, Jo and Alex will head off on their honeymoon, which will obviously not go as planned. It will, however, give Jo some career inspiration.
"Jo becomes inspired, and she feels like she maybe has a new medical innovation, and she wants to pursue it with Meredith in Seattle," Camilla Luddington tells us. "But it's Grey's Anatomy. Does it all go to plan? I don't know."
Bailey's New Life
Based on this new pic from the season premiere, it looks like Bailey is quite enjoying having stepped down as chief. Do you see that smile?
A Search for Meaning
According to the premiere's official description, Jackson will be struggling with the meaning behind recent experiences, which could have something to do with hooking up with his step-sister while April fully moved on from him and got married to her ex-fiance.
New Hot Docs
If all your docs are already hot and you add two hot docs to your docket of hot docs, how many hot docs do you got? A lot. But never enough.
Chris Carmack and Alex Landi join the Grey Sloan Memorial staff as "ortho god" Link and gay surgeon Dr. Nico Kim, respectively. And yes, they are hot and here to shake things up, just like everybody else in this hospital. We can't wait!
Stay tuned for updates and the latest news about Grey's Anatomy throughout the season!
