1. Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston

The epitome of the fairy tale couple, these two had it all. Success, good looks and what seemed like a happy marriage. Fast-forward five years, when a certain movie started filming with a certain actress, and the duo was no more. Hearts broke all over the world.

2. Jesse James & Sandra Bullock

Bullock was on cloud nine! She'd just won her first Oscar and made us all cry during her acceptance speech, in which she sweetly referred to her hubby, who shed tears as well. And then? We find out that he's allegedly been neck-deep in dirty business! We thought Sandra tamed this bad boy, but apparently not.

3. Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman

This supercouple was together for 10 (!) years before splitting up in 2001, and had adopted two children. Though the height difference might have been a tad awkward, they made it work, right? But apparently those inches on Cruise still made Kidman feel unseen and unheard as an actress. So they each went solo.

4. Ryan Phillippe & Reese Witherspoon

These two gave everyone hope that Hollywood couples had a chance! They had two beautiful kids, were married for seven years and always seemed to be laughing together. It must have been a façade, because even after couples therapy, the two called it quits.

5. Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez

Jenny from the Block did a 180 when she got with Affleck, and we liked it! The pair even pioneered the hybrid name game with Bennifer. We didn’t expect these two to get together, but after seeing their love paraded all over the place and that huge rock on Jen’s finger, we got attached. Then reality struck and the wedding was called off hours before it started.

6. Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears

This was a teen power couple! They had known each other since they were tiny tots on The Mickey Mouse Club, Spears began her tour opening for 'N Sync and they were adorable together! It was a match made in teeny-bop heaven! And then J.T. broke up with Spears after three years. Why? Well, “Cry Me a River” gave us a couple ideas.

7. Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson

He was the boy band member from 98 Degrees and she was a rising song star, and it was all too cute! They appeared in each other's videos and did sexy duets. They even got their own show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, after deciding to tie the knot! Then three years later, it was kaput.

8. Bobby Brown & Whitney Houston

After 14 rocky years, the marriage between this songbird diva and her hubby came to an end. We've said it before and we'll say it again, endless fights and drug addiction are not good for romance.

9. Ellen DeGeneres & Anne Heche

It's a lesbian couple in the media! We gave props to Ellen for coming out, and totally got on board with her love interest. Alas, Heche ended up deciding that she was into men. Poor Ellen!
