This navy strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with embroidered skirt is just so perfect for Drew Barrymore. It's unique and whimsical yet elegant, just like the adorable (and award-winning!) actress. We're just disappointed the nude makeup and flyaway hair is doing nothing to highlight her cute mug—if it had, Drew would've knocked this one out of the park.
Kate Hudson has been all about white dresses lately. Just how many iterations can she wear? Well, this time it's a slinky, long-sleeve Emilio Pucci gown that's all business up front and supersexy out back. Love it—after her Globes bedsheet disaster, this sleek turn (with the soft updo and makeup) is glamorous and refreshing.
Anna Paquin went with a little number from Alexander McQueen’s crazy reptilian collection and...wow! The True Blood babe tries to work it, but the wild print looks strikingly out-of-place on the red carpet. Perhaps if she saved it for a more informal event and paired it with less janky-looking shoes, we would have been OK with it. On second thought, nevermind. This print is just too much.
Since Lea Michele got the big, poofy princess moment out of the way at the Golden Globes last week, she's slipped into a much more sophisticated, body-skimming Malandrino gown. And we are blown away by how stunning the Glee star looks in this ruffly emerald number. It almost makes us want to break into song and dance!
Oh, Sandra Bullock. You’re so likable and funny, if only you could just wear something that we could unabashedly love. This figure-hugging Alexander McQueen gown does make you appear tall and statuesque. But then that figure skater-y glitter collar had to happen. Better luck next awards show! (Seriously, make that wish happen, because we want to love you!)
It takes cojones to wear mustard on the red carpet, but if anyone's gonna do it and pull it off, it's quirky fashionista Diane Kruger. She's a curvy, smoldering goddess in this unusual shade from designer Jason Wu...and reminds us of another style star's awesome yellow dress (remember Michelle Williams' 2006 Oscars pick?). Bravo, babe!
Marion Cotillard's Elie Saab minidress certainly has a lot going on—asymmetry, shoulder pad, draping, sequins, exaggerated hips, feathers...oh my. We all know the Nine beauty’s a red carpet pro, so she should be able to pull it off no probs. Unfortunately, that's just not the case here. The dress just looks too bulky and, if that wasn’t enough, these chunky white heels are really the nail in the coffin. Quel dommage.
Tina Fey’s kooky Golden Globes dress was a love it or vehemently hate it kind of thing. Even though we loved it, the SAG Award winner took the hate to heart and was like, "Fine, I’ll wear something normal for you guys!" And so we got this deep purple Ferragamo cocktail dress and sparkly Carrie Brashaw Louboutins. It’s kinda sexy with the low-cut neckline and really impossible to hate but doesn't give us much to love either—that’s just part of playing it safe.
What was Justin Timberlake thinking in this cheesy, ruffled blue shirt, bow tie and suit by Dolce & Gabbana?! As far as we can tell, his acting/singing career is going great, but he's dressed like a Vegas lounge act. J.T., put this one away and save it for when you're headlining the Sahara one day far, far in the future.
Carey Mulligan has been racking up nominations for her work in An Education and winning over our hearts on the red carpet, favoring classics with a twist. The adorable Brit wore a colorful Lanvin gown with fussy draping that gathered into a mermaid silhouette. Now if only we could coax her into accessorizing with BFShia LaBeouf, then everything would be perfect!
