Weight gain (and loss!), neck braces and hair dye, oh my! Some of your favorite TV stars, including Lea Michele, Max Greenfield and more, are going to look completely unrecognizable in new roles (and some old favorites!) on some of the fall's hottest shows...and we've got all the scoop on their surprising new looks!
Check out the 12 biggest transformations...
Gone are Rachel's knee-high socks, berets and plaid skirts that Michele donned for six seasons on Glee. In their place? The neck brace, questionable clothing and un-brushed hair of Hester, Michele's hilarious scene-stealing character in Fox's Scream Queens. "Dude, I saw myself in the preview and I was like, 'Oh my god, I can't believe this is what I look like when I'm doing it," Michele told us of her make-under. "But it's awesome!"
What the Schmidt?! Greenfield, known for his role as the seriously manscaped Schmidt on New Girl, dyed his hair bleach blond and lost almost 30 pounts to take on the role of a drug addict on American Horror Story: Hotel.
"He cut off his beautiful hair and dyed it and then we had to let the roots grow in," AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed of Greenfield's new look. "I think he's lost 30 pounds, which is odd because his wife is due to have a baby any day now, so she's nine months pregnant and he's living on celery water. So she's not happy about that, and yesterday I talked to him and his waist is down to I think a 27. So he's really committed to it, and he looks amazing."
Emma Swan? So long. Meet the new Dark One, as our heroine is now taking over the title of the ABC fantasy hit's baddie, and she's definitely looking the part. Lots of black leather, a severe hair style and a rockin' red lip. "She's going to face the darkness in herself … instead of repressing it," Morrison said of Emma this season. And she's going to be wearing it, too!
Mike Chang who?! The Glee star is going glam-rock for the fan-favorite role of Magnus Bane in ABC Family's Shadowhunters, the highly anticipated small-screen adaptation of The Mortal Instruments series. For the centuries-old warlock, Shum is rocking ALL the glitter and eyeliner, a far-cry from Mike Chang's squeaky-clean image.
What a fiery new look! McNamara, who went super blonde for her roles on Switched at Birth and Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, dyed her hair a fire-engine red to take on the role of Clary in ABC Family's Shadowhunters (taking over for Lily Collins in the Mortal Instruments movies).
"I don't think a lot of people saw me coming off of Burn Notice playing a 200 pound thug with a Minnesota accent,"Donovan said of his shocking transformation for the FX anthology hit's second season.
Where is Friday Night Light's Lanky Landry? Hiding out in Fargo, where he's nearly unrecognizable! "I had already gained some weight for a movie I did last year and I was looking forward to losing it," Plemons said. "And then Noah [Hawley] told me he wanted me to keep it for the butcher."
Also a nice touch? His haircut, with Plemons revealing, "It was Noah's idea to do the middle part which I thought was perfect."
Another Fargo star, another fun transformation! Danson, who is set to end his run on CSI this season, grew quite the beard for his role of Hank Larsson, the Sheriff of Rock County.
From clown-chic to glam-rock! First introduced to viewers on AHS: Freak Show as Dandy in the '50s-set season, Wittrock is set to take on a whole new look for American Horror Story: Hotel as a male model with some seriously fierce fashion.
"Season 3 here we come #daisyjohnson," Bennet captioned a pic of her fresh new cut, chopping off over eight inches for the new season of her ABC show." She also posted a video documenting "the transformation." We can't wait to see her new edge in season three!
Liz on on the run with Red in season three of The Blacklist, which means she needs a new look. A blonde look. (Hey, it beats the brunette wig from early season one!)
OK, so this isn't that BIG of a transformation, but five years in the future, Pretty Little Liars' Spencer has BANGS.
