So much for their happy ending.
Is there any worse fate than to love a couple on a TV show? Shippin' is a tough sport, people, and it's not for the faint of heart. Sure, there are many highs (First kisses! Weddings! Babies!), but there's just as much heartbreak. The worst kind of heartbreak? Your favorite couple not ending up together in the end. Ticket for one to Bummerville!
Check out our list of 20 TV couples that should've ended up together and we'll never get over. Then head on down to the comments and let us know which pairings that didn't last still bum you out!
Sure, it probably would've ended in disaster if they had gotten married, but they were just so good together. And "That's my girl. Always doing the stupid thing" gets us every time. Party in our tear ducts and you're all invited.
Remember how the entire final season was leading up to their wedding…and then they just divorced within three minutes of the finale? And then she ultimately ended up with Ted? The Mother was too good for everyone on this damn show.
The story of their ill-timed and ill-fated romance is still the topic we discuss most with our therapist each week. We're not really making any progress. AND NEVER EVER WILL.
We know this may be a controversial inclusion on the list, given star Cory Monteith's tragic death in July 2014 at the age of 31 (Glee had Finn die off-screen). But after hearing creator Ryan Murphy's original ending for the series and the couple, we can't help but to wish we could have seen Finchhe's happy ending play out on screen:
After Rachel makes it big on Broadway and Finn chooses to stay in Lima and take over the glee club, she would eventually return to her high school sweetheart. "Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn's glee club," Murphy revealed. "‘What are you doing here?' he would ask. 'I'm home,' she would reply. Fade out. The End."
We shall never forgive Dick Wolf for refusing to give the people what they want: a hot, hot hookup between the two partners.
The most WTF-part of Lost's final scene in that church? That Sayid was with Shannon. Huh?!
Sorry we're not sorry, Chair fans! These two were just better-suited for each other. Your first love doesn't always have to be your last love, people!
Ugh, was there anything more tragic than Marissa dying in Ryan's arms in the season three finale? You know, more tragic than most of the final season? At least Summer and Seth remained flawless until the very end.
Oh, what's that? You thought at least one couple deserved a happy ending on this show? Too bad ‘cause Shonda Rhimes will end up just having them die after a horrific plane crash before ever getting back together. Welcome to Shondaland, please take tissues and ice cream as you make your way into the park.
We know, we know. It never would've worked, but we just loved these two crazy kids together. At least she ended up with Jason Street (aka Scott Porter), a worthy consolation prize if there ever was one!
So maybe we have a thing for good-girls-turning-bad-boys-good, but Lyla brought out the best in No. 33.
The pair redefined the term star-crossed lovers (She's a CIA agent! He's a solder-turned-terrorist!), but just watching them have a heated conversation in an interrogation room was better than most foreplay.
We'll never forgive Isaiah Washington for sinking our ship.
(Psst...Owen fans, we haven't forgotten you. We just think there's still a chance they could end the series together.)
While Lucas found his happily ever after with Peyton in Australia, many fans held out hope for Brookas. For us, it was always Lucas and that stoned dog that ate Dan's heart. Our struggle is very real.
Before the movie, the series ended with Veronica cutting Logan out of her life. For good. Dark shipper times. And this is where we all bow down to the power of Kickstarter, right?
Didn't watch the CW's recent reboot? Good ‘cause the jerks split the couple up! What drove them apart? China, if you can believe it.
Rufus. Ended. Up. With. Lisa. Loeb. Let that sink in for a minute. As for Lily? Like they chanted in Hook: old, alone and done for! (JK, but come on, she did choose Bart over Rufus originally. Karma!)
Still. Not. Over. This. Or the fact that they killed him and then introduced his little brother as the real Jimmy? No. Just no.
Forget Dean, Jess and Logan! We've previously said Rory belonged with her dorky college friend and we're sticking by that.
LOL. JK.
