One of two Manchester men accused of plotting to harm British soul diva Joss Stone with the aid of a samurai sword and an assortment of other blades pleaded not guilty today to charges of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit murder.
Per The Telegraph, Kevin Liverpool, 34, entered his plea during an appearance at Exeter Crown Court. His accomplice, Junior Bradshaw, 31, also appeared but did not plead to any charges, pending the results of a psychiatric exam.
U.K. authorities nabbed the pair in June after Stone's neighbors in Devon saw them casing the village's roads and acting suspiciously not far from the 24-year-old singer's country home. When police pulled them over, a search of their vehicle turned up a cache of weapons, including a samurai sword, knives, rope and a body bag, as well as detailed maps of the surrounding villages, Stone's residence and aerial views of the property.
Liverpool and Bradshaw's request for bail has since been denied.
Stone was not present for today's hearing, but her mother, Wendy, was in the public gallery.
The next hearing in the case is set for December while a trial is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2012.
