Another day, another drama--the Whitney Houston saga continues.
The beleaguered pop star has checked into a drug rehab facility, according to publicist Nancy Seltzer.
"She thanks everyone for their support and prayers," Seltzer said in a statement Tuesday.
No other details about the Grammy-winning singer's treatment were released.
The 40-year-old has copped to drug problems in the past. In a 2002 Primetime interview, she admitted to ABC's Diane Sawyer that she had dabbled in alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and pills but claimed "the party's over."
Four years ago Houston was busted at Hawaii's Kona International Airport for carrying pot.
But a petty misdemeanor drug charge was subsequently dropped based on a drug counselor's evaluation that the "Greatest Love of All" singer did not need treatment for substance abuse.
The current announcement is the latest in a string of troubling incidents for Houston.
Hubby Bobby Brown allegedly roughed her up in December, leaving her with a cut lip and a bruised cheek.
Brown's alleged slap-happy ways got him 60 days in jail for probation violation stemming from his 1996 conviction on a drunken-driving charge.
And while Houston said she preferred to work out the matter privately, authorities still charged Brown with battery. A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for May 5, likely resulting in more jail time for Houston's spouse.
The couple have been married since 1992 and are the parents to a 10-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
Meanwhile, Houston also lost her father last year under less than ideal circumstances. Up until his death the two were embroiled in a $100 million breach-of-contract battle because she purportedly refused to pay for services her daddy's entertainment company provided.
Speaking to Celebrity Justice, the elder Houston had a message for his daughter: "At my age, I haven't got that long...I would like to spend the last years of my life on a boat some place."
Whitney told Sawyer she planned to work out the lawsuit with her father but vowed, "They'll never get $100 million out of me. I know that."
