The Voice Recap: Live-Show Time—Who Gets Your Vote?

It's the first night of the reality show's live performance which makes us vote for who we want to stay

Aside from a special appearance from Betty White—who just wanted to look at Blake Shelton promoted her show Off the Rocker—and some hair on Cee Lo Green's head, tonight's excitement sprang from the beginning of the live shows on The Voice, where we saw members from Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera's teams perform solo on stage (with cool lights and smoke) to grab your votes.

So how did they do?

Team Blake

Once a backup singer for Alicia Keys, Jermaine Paul was able to make the stage his own by singing Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer." Christina appreciated the way he worked the room, but didn't understand the song choice. Blake didn't care, he knew everyone (especially the ladies) loved it.

An incredibly high-energy performance was given by 17-year-old RaeLynn who sang Maroon 5's "Wake Up Call" (Hey, Adam Levine!). This girl was spunky and sassy and everyone saw it. Shelton said she represented the new generation of country music, and we think he's right.

Naia Kete strayed from her usual reggae sound to take on Adele's "Turning Tables," and gave us a show that was practically a capalla. Aside from some guitar plucking and occasional piano keys, Kete only used her soul to back up her singing. Some were a fan, others (Xtina) were not.

Jordis Unga was looking for redemption after the Battle Rounds, and once she started belting out "Alone" by Heart, she got it. Cee Lo loved her stage presence and Blake was so proud of the way she amped up the song.

After dealing with the death of her father, Erin Willett came back with a fire to perform Stevie Wonder's "Living for the City" in honor of her dad. Cee Lo commended Erin's power given the circumstances that she's been under, and Blake called it the "best vocal performance of the night."

Charlotte Sometimes gave a dramatic rendition of Paramore's "Misery Business," which surprised Christina and had Blake Calling Charlotte "a true artist with vision."

Team Christina

Opera singer Chris Mann performed "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and clearly didn't need any hoopla onstage to get the crowd's attention because his voice was more than enough. There was definitely some emotion (especially seeing his mother tear up) and as Christina said, he made it his own.

Head nods and hands in the air—that's what basically describes Moses Stone's performance of Kanye West's "Stronger" and "Power" (yeah, he mixed the two). Stone gave us some new melodies by singing along with rapping, and even showed us how to bust a move or two. Coach Christina was jammin' the whole time and gave Moses props for his versatility.

Lindsey Pavao gave a unique twist to Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" by adding her breathy sounds along with some trippy visuals. Levine was missing some power in the chorus, but Christina wishes she could buy Lindsey's album right now because she could listen to her all day.

Sera Hill and six half-naked gentleman dancers gave us a show to Drake's "Find Your Lovin'." Blake was more hooked on the "male strippers" than the performance, but both he and Xtina thought Sera did a fantastic job.

Ashley De La Rosa rocked out to Alanis Morissette's "Right Through You." Adam said the 17-year-old was the most improved out of everyone and his opinion of her has drastically changed. Along with an awesome performance, Ashley made a miracle happen: Adam and Xtina agreed on something and got along.

Jesse Campbell, the known powerhouse in the competition, sang "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. Adam Levine—after a slight confrontation with Xtina (their friendliness didn't last long)—said Jesse was the man to beat.
