Turns out, Michael Trevino can't actually turn into a werewolf. So when his character Tyler does so on The Vampire Diaries, a lot of fancy technology and good solid acting go into it. Shirtless acting to boot.

We've got your exclusive first look at a behind-the-scenes featurette from The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Second Season, out on DVD Aug. 30. Oh, and did we mention that there's a lot of shirtless Trevino in the footage?

In "Pages of the Wolf: Howling at the Moon," we take a look at all the aspects that go into turning a high school boy into a vicious werewolf. Remember Tyler's very first transformation? The broken arm, the skin shifting, the shirtlessness—all of that took an entire team of digital effect artists to create. Except for the shirtlessness...Trevino did that blessedly all on his own

Check out the footage below to hear from the people behind the TV magic as well as Trevino himself on the process that turns a boy into a wolf man. Spoiler alert: The featurette is so cool.
