Should American Horror Story be nervous?!

ABC's new drama The River debuted tonight and we don't know about you, but it scared the bejeezus out of us. (Those hanging dolls would frighten even Chuckie.)

While The River didn't have as much buzz as Smash did going into its premiere, we definitely think it'll have people talking about it...which is exactly what we want you to do right now!

After Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood), the host of the beloved series The Undiscovered Country, goes missing in the Amazon, a team led by his wife Tess (Leslie Hope) and estranged and angry son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) set out with a crew to find him. The rescue mission, which is filmed documentary style, will take them into unexplored territory of the Amazon River and proves just as deadly as it is mysterious.

Six months after his father's disappearance, Lincoln hesitantly joins his mother on the rescue mission after his father's emergency beacon goes off. So why do they let the camera document their journey? Because it's the only way they can get  funding for their efforts, so they are forced to include Dr. Cole's ex-producer Clark (Paul Blackthorne) and his crew. Starring as members of the crew are Eloise Mumford, Daniel Zacapa and Thomas Kretschmann.

The River was created by Oren Peli, the creator of Paranormal Activity, and is executive-produced by Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity 1, 2, and 3), so it's no surprise that it's not exactly a show the whole family can watch. Also serving as executive producers are Michael Green (Heroes) and Zack Estrin (Prison Break).
