Well, it's a good thing they have those well-established, earned-in-their-own-right careers to fall back on. Oh, wait…

In any case, after just one season, The Real Housewives of D.C. has the dubious distinction of being the first and only one of the otherwise addictive Bravo franchise to fall victim to low approval (and even lower viewer) ratings, and this week officially got the ax.

So what happened? And how quickly until the Salahis pull another stunt to get back on TV?

No word on the latter, but on the former, at least, Bravo VP and endearingly cross-eyed talking head Andy Cohen released the following statement:

"We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise. I wish all our DC Wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity."

Particularly, if Michaele Salahi is to be believed (spoiler alert: she isn't!), the White House party crashers.

Salahi told People that she had a feeling the cancellation was coming and blamed not poor ratings, but her fellow Housewives' refusal to participate in the show if she returned—that, and Cohen's alleged refusal to air another season without her participation.

"The other women didn't want me back on the show, and Andy stood his ground and said there wouldn't be a show without me on it," she said. "I'm grateful to him for that."

Well done. Hope that gratitude is just as sweet standing in the unemployment line!

The one ex-Housewife that Andy will be working with very soon, however, is Cat Ommanney, whose British accent proved an alluring enough credential to help earn her a guest spot on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live Royal Wedding Spectacular April 28.

Still, let that be a lesson to the other ladies—step up your game or get canceled. And yeah, we're looking at you, Miami.
