Victoria's Secret Model Sounds Off on Too-Skinny Criticism: "I Take Such Good Care of Myself"

Candice Swanepoel, criticized for being too skinny, says people don't understand how crazy a model's schedule can be

No one ever said that being hot for a living was easy.

Candice Swanepoel, a Victoria's Secret model whose increasingly skinny frame became a topic of contention among fashion insiders earlier this year, defended herself today when asked about the controversy.

"People don't' realize the schedules that models have and the traveling hours, and trying to eat at the right times," the South African beauty, who looked the picture of genetically blessed health today at L.A.'s Grove shopping center for the relaunch of the VS Fantasies body care collection, told E! News.

But what about those pics of her looking so thin and the rumors about being unhealthy and possibly losing her contract?

"When I first heard about it, I was kind of hurt because I take such good care of myself and there's only so much you can do," Swanepoel said.

People should know that "our schedules are crazy," she insisted. "For Victoria's Secret we have to be voluptuous women, and if you're not healthy you can't do this work because it's seriously physical."

And that's how the catalog subscribers like it.
