For once, the person Noel Gallagher got into a scrap with wasn't brother Liam. But who'd ever guess it'd be...Katie Holmes?!

Shortly after taping an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman last Thursday night, the former Oasis singer blogged about a run-in he had with his fellow late-night guest, Mrs. Tom Cruise.

Needless to say, it was memorable, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

"We literally bumped into that top Scientologist Katie Holmes on the way into the studio. We came out of the lift and BANG, there she was," wrote Gallagher on his website.

According to the British rocker, Katie—who was on the show to plug her new comedy, Jack and Jill—suddenly got a little camera shy.

"Now at this point my mate, and friend of the stars, Scully was doing a bit of filming for my website and managed to capture the moment," he explained. "She looked a bit miffed at the various North-West accents and some vigorous handshaking, but there was no need to send one of her people over to demand the video be deleted!!!!  Un-f--kin'-believable."

Fortunately, the Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds frontman (really) had some better luck with another star.

As it turns out, funnyman Steve Martin and ZZ Top member Billy Gibbons were backstage at the Ed Sullivan Theater, too.

"Our dressing room was next door to none other than the legendary comedian Steve Martin who, for some reason, wasn't on the show but was there anyway—never did get to the bottom of why," added Noel.

"He only stuck his head round the door to say hello! What an honour!!! We talked banjo and he had a bit of banter with the lads. Top, top man. Funny as f---!!"

The singer then gave a shoutout: "Steve Martin I am having you, la'."

Closer to showtime, Gallagher was then paid a visit by "that fella Billy Gibbons from that band ZZ Top" whom he recalled favorably:

"Another top little dude," blogged the Brit. "Who's not having that tune 'Sharp Dressed Man'? Squares…that's who!"

Gallagher is currently in the U.S. in support of his first-ever solo album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, which dropped Oct. 17.
