Mitchell Guist risked his life every day, but no alligator ever got the better of him.

The preliminary report from an autopsy performed today on the 47-year-old Swamp People star showed that his death Monday was from natural causes, E! News confirms.

"More details will be released when the final report is made" in four to five weeks, says Sheriff Mike Waguespack of the Assumption Parrish Sheriff's Department in Louisiana.

There's no word on whether Guist's body has been released to his family yet. Survivors include his brother Glenn Guist, his alligator-hunting partner on Swamp People.

Guist, who joined the History Channel series in its second season, was aboard his boat on the Intracoastal Waterway when he suffered what appeared to be a cardiac event and fell into the water. He was pronounced dead at Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City.
