Prince William turned the dirty thirty Wednesday. How did he ring in the new decade?

Oh, you know, hitting the road with Duchess Kate. A royal source tells E! News the birthday boy and Kate Middleton left Prince Charles's home, Highgrove House, in Gloucestershire around 5 p.m. and headed back to their home in Anglesey. The distance between the two is 220 miles—so on U.K. roads, that's about a four-hour drive.

On Wills' birthday eve, Kate was spotted at Tescos, a local supermarket… Stocking up for her man's big day, perhaps?

The brunette beauty "arrived in a Range Rover, accompanied by another lady [in her twenties] and two police royal protection officers," a witness said. "She was wearing a light-colored summer dress."

The Duchess had a "a small basket of groceries and used a manned checkout rather than self service," and was described by a fellow shopper as "smiley and [dressed] casually but smart and tidy."

In addition to William's royal inheritance from his late mother Princess Diana, the prince also reportedly received a specially designed watch from Kate.
